Nvidia RTX 3070, 3080, 3090 Launched In India: Time To Upgrade Your GPU?
The newer offerings not only brings the capability to game on 4K at smoother framerates, but some iterations also push the limit to 8K gaming. Here¡¯s everything you need to know about Nvidia¡¯s newest RTX GPUs.
After a long wait, Nvidia has finally gone ahead and refreshed its line of high-performance GPUs with its RTX 30-series lineup, that will be replacing the 20 series GPUs.
The newer offerings not only brings the capability to game on 4K at smoother framerates, but some iterations also push the limit to 8K gaming. Here¡¯s everything you need to know about Nvidia¡¯s newest RTX GPUs.
GPU Architecture
All the new GPUs are based on Nvidia¡¯s latest ampere architecture however, they bring some advancements with respect to video memory size, memory type as well as clock speeds that make a difference.
The GPUs get the second generation RT cores as well as 3rd generation Tensor cores which promise double performance than previous iterations.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070
Let¡¯s start with the most humble card from the lot, the RTX 3070. This card will be replacing the 2070 Super comes with 8GB of GDDR6 memory. The card runs on a boost clock of 1.73GHz. It is also powered by 5,888 Nvidia CUDA cores.
Nvidia claims that the card is faster than the 2080Ti (that costs around 1.2 lakhs) -- the previous flagship and is approximately 60 percent faster than the RTX 2070. This card is more suitable for playing on QHD resolutions, although we can expect it to easily push to 4K at high-very high settings for smooth 60fps. RTX 3070 will go on sale in October and is priced at Rs 51,000.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080
RTX 3080 is being regarded as the flagship card by Nvidia. The GPU gets 8,704 CUDA cores with a boost clock of 1.71GHz as well as a 10GB of faster GDDR6X memory.
This card is designed to offer framerates of over 60fps on 4K resolution and as per Nvidia¡¯s claims is 2 times faster than the previous RTX 2080. The GPU is built on a custom 8N manufacturing process, the flagship GeForce RTX 3080 has 28 billion transistors. RTX 3080 will go on sale on September 17 and is priced at Rs 71,000.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090
RTX 3090 is a new lineup that Nvidia has introduced to offer the best of the best, for gaming. This GPU gets 10,496 CUDA cores with a boost clock of 1.70GHz. The GPU has a whopping 24GB of GDDR6X memory.
All of this firepower translates to a card that is capable of hitting 60fps+ on 8K monitors. The card is 50 percent faster than the RTX Titan -- the fastest card offered by Nvidia till date. The GPU is capable of tackling the most challenging AI algorithms and feed massive data-hungry workloads. RTX 3090 will go on sale on September 24 and will be priced at a whopping Rs 1,52,000.
Console vs PC Master Race
The pricing of the current Nvidia cards surely point at the fact that they¡¯re ready for yet another battle with the consoles, where Sony¡¯s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft¡¯s Xbox Series X have promised to offer ray tracing and smooth 4K gaming.
While the actual pricing of the consoles isn¡¯t out yet, leaks have hinted them to not be as cheap, coming at around Rs 55,000 to 60,000. With cards like the RTX 3070 as well as the RTX 3080 offering rather affordable 4K gaming options with ray tracing, gamers are surely going to have a hard time deciding whether they¡¯d want to join the PC master race or join the console clubs.
