On Tuesday, the firm announced OnePlus AI, a new suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for its handsets. The features of the latest Plus Key, which is expected to debut on the OnePlus 13s, were also unveiled by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.
In addition to activating a few AI capabilities, the hardware button can be utilized for several utility functions. The AI Plus Mind feature, which enables users to save, catalog, and resurface on-device content swiftly, is one of them
The new OnePlus AI moniker is a catch-all for all the AI features on the company's devices, much like Apple Intelligence or Galaxy AI. Notably, with the release of the OxygenOS 15 update, the consumer tech company started integrating AI capabilities into its products.
AI Plus Mind is the first feature of OnePlus AI to be made available. According to the business, it's a catalog tool that allows users to take screenshots of any information on the screen instantly.
Users can use natural language queries to retrieve information from the saved screenshots by visiting the Mind Space tool. Despite having a similar sound to Microsoft's Recall feature, it requires manual activation.
OnePlus emphasized that the function can use computer vision to analyze photographs and take screenshots. For instance, the AI Plus Mind tool can take schedule information from an image and apply it straight to the user's calendar, the business stated. Later this year, the feature will also automatically classify saved content.
Notably, the AI Plus Mind function will initially be available on the OnePlus 13s before being extended to the full OnePlus 13 lineup through an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade.
In addition, OnePlus declared that Google's Gemini will now be integrated with its first-party programs. This allows users to request tasks from the Gemini AI assistant in various apps, including the OnePlus Notes, Clock, and others. The company has not disclosed when users can access this integration.
The Private Computing Cloud (PCC), a more secure method for consumers to share data with cloud-based AI tools, was introduced by Oppo in March. When storing data on the cloud, it employs safeguards like encryption and the trusted execution environment (TEE). OnePlus has confirmed the use of PCC for certain OnePlus AI functionalities.
OnePlus 13s Plus Key
The company announced via an X (formerly Twitter) post that the OnePlus 13s will come with a Plus Key. According to the accompanying teaser, the key will be customizable and probably have the same features as the company's alert slider.
It will also enable users to alter the brightness level and access AI features with a single click. The tri-state alert slider was formerly positioned on the left edge of the phone, where the key now sits.
The OnePlus 13T's customizable shortcut key, which can be used to choose between vibration, sound, and do not disturb modes, looks to be comparable to the new Plus Key. With a click, it can initiate a recording or be designated as a dedicated camera capture button.
It can be used to access translation tools, take screenshots, or even be made to do nothing when pushed. The OnePlus 13s and OnePlus 13T seem to have similar designs. The phone is rumored to be available in pink and black in India.
