ISRO is one of many reasons to be proud of our nation. Whether it is the success of Chandrayaan 2, successfully sending satellites to space in a cost effective manner or the new Navic GPS satellite that will help future ¡®Made in India¡¯ phones to navigate better, across the country. And now, a recent press release has revealed that ISRO has 36 missions planned from the year 2020 to 2021.
Yes, that¡¯s surely a mind-boggling number. This was announced by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, as a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, today. He has revealed that ISRO will be sending 10 Earth observation satellites during the year 2020-2021.
Along with that will be 3 communications satellites, 2 navigation satellites, 3 space science satellites, one technology demonstration, 10 PSLVs, 3 GSLV Mark IIs, 1 GSLV Mark III, 2 Small Satellite Launch Vehicle and Gaganyaan Mission with Vyomitra.
Out of these missions, ISRO has already completed 11 missions -- 4 Earth observation satellites, 1 communication satellite, 1 space science satellite, 4 PSLVs and 1 GSLV Mark III.
Dr Singh also stated, ¡°Indian Space Programme is focused on peaceful uses of outer space. Towards this, space technology should be used for benefit of the country and society, provide solutions for developmental activities and address problems of the society at large.¡±
ISRO¡¯s Gaganyaan mission will be India¡¯s first feat into sending an Indian into space onto a rocket made by Indian engineers. IAF Pilots have already commenced their training in Russia with Russian space agency.
While the Gaganyaan mission is scheduled for 2022, India is going to run a test flight with Vyomitra -- a humanoid robot developed by ISRO -- that will simulate conditions for astronauts in space in 2020.
Revealing Vyomitra to the world, K Sivan stated, ¡°We are on schedule and we are going to do a lot of demonstration tests this year. After the demonstration test, we will conduct our first unmanned mission by this year-end.¡±
He further stated, ¡°The half humanoid that you saw today is going to simulate the human systems to that understand how the human system will behave, how the life support system will behave. So that way the mission is on schedule.¡±
