PUBG Makers Unveil 'Ana,' A Hyper-Realistic Virtual Human With Influencer Ambitions
PUBG's creators have built a "hyper-realistic" virtual human named Ana to facilitate the establishment of its Web3 ecosystem
PUBG's creators have built a "hyper-realistic" virtual human named Ana to facilitate the establishment of its Web3 ecosystem. PUBG's parent company Krafton says that it hopes to turn Ana into a celebrity in order to "attract the interest and popularity of Gen Z around the world." The statement claims that Ana is powered by "hyperrealism, rigging and deep learning."
In a statement, Josh Seokjin Shin, Krafton's creative centre head said - "Ana will release an original music track and expand her scope of activity as an influencer into various areas across entertainment and esports." Essentially, Ana will serve as the face of Krafton's metaverse ambitions and was built using Unreal Engine, which also has a tool aimed at creating realistic digital people.
Do Ana's human-like features have a purpose?
"ANA proudly displays a hyper-realistic appearance, blurring the lines between a digital character and a real human. With human-like features, such as the baby hairs and fluff on her skin, ANA truly looks unlike any other virtual human that currently exists through other technologies," Krafton wrote.

There's not much detail available on Ana, except Krafton says that her purpose will be outlined later in the year and would include a "unique story arc."
"The highly-advanced face rigging technology delicately expresses the movement of the pupil, fine facial muscles and wrinkles, and enables the natural joint movement across the entire body. Additionally, deep learning technologies, such as advanced voice synthesis, help create an artificial intelligent voice for ANA so she can act and sing just like a real human."
