Qualcomm has announced its Snapdragon 750G 5G Mobile Platform that enables global 5G connectivity with HDR gaming and on-device AI. With the recent addition, Qualcomm says that there have been more than 275 designs ¡°announced or in development¡± based on Snapdragon 7- series mobile platforms. 140 of these are claimed to be 5G designs.
The next-to-premium tier platform by Qualcomm has been adopted widely by smartphone makers. ¡°We continue to see great traction with our high-tier Snapdragon 7-series 5G mobile platforms,¡± said Kedar Kondap, Vice President of Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. The new platform will now bring such a selection of premium mobile features to an even wider market.
As for the highlights of the Snapdragon 750G, apart from the 5G connectivity through Snapdragon X52 5G Modem-RF System, the mobile platform will also feature Snapdragon Elite Gaming, Adreno 619 GPU, Qualcomm AI Engine as well as Kryo 570 CPU. Collaboratively, these engines are supposed to provide a smooth, seamless experience for advanced gaming and connected services.
Through the Modem-RF modem-to-antenna system, Snapdragon 750G supports multi-gigabit connections ¡°with lightning-fast upload and download speeds,¡± claims Qualcomm. On its website, it mentions it to be up to 3.7 Gbps (5G), 1.2 Gbps (LTE) as peak download speed and up to 1.6 Gbps (5G), 210 Mbps (LTE) as peak upload speed. A low-latency gameplay is subsequently ensured by Snapdragon Elite Gaming. Adreno 619 GPU helps achieve a better graphics rendering than Snapdragon 730G.
Other features mentioned by Qualcomm are smart camera and video operations, voice translation, advanced AI based imaging, and AI enhanced gaming experiences. All these will be powered by the latest 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine.
Snapdragon 750G also features the ¡°always-on¡± Qualcomm Sensing Hub. Qualcomm says that it combines multiple data streams for contextual use-cases. These are meant for voice-based experiences on the device, while gaming and for voice assistants. A low-power Qualcomm AI Engine uses AI for echo cancellation and background noise suppression.
As per Qualcomm, the new mobile platform will be featured in commercial devices by the end of this year. It mentions that the 750G is also ¡°pin- and software-compatible¡± with Snapdragon 690 5G Mobile Platform. Xiaomi is known to feature the platform on its upcoming smartphone for the first time.
