This is according to Canaly¡¯s quarterly smartphone sales report where it possessed a considerable 17 percent market share. Samsung topped the list at 19 percent market share. In fact, Samsung accounted for nearly one in five global shipments of smartphones in the second quarter of 2021. Apple sadly came down to just 14th percent of the market share on this list.
Xiaomi also was also the company that saw the highest rate of annual growth at a phenomenal 83 percent. According to Ben Stanton, research manager at Canalys, the Chinese smartphone brand is forming a tighter grasp overseas with shipments increasing more than four-fold in Latin America, around 150 percent in Africa and 50 percent in Western Europe.
Stanton said: "All vendors are fighting hard to secure component supply amid global shortages, but Xiaomi already has its sights set on the next prize: displacing Samsung to become the world's largest vendor."
He added, "It is now transforming its business model from challenger to incumbent, with initiatives such as channel partner consolidation and more careful management of older stock in the open market."
