US Anti-Vaxxers Are Wearing Masks To Protect Them From Vaccinated People

Last week, a private school in Miami, Florida sent its faculty and staff a letter that in case the teachers in the institution are willing to get vaccinated, they¡¯d have to stay away from the children.

The concern -- a phenomenon called ¡®vaccine shedding¡¯ that¡¯s currently the talk of the anti-vaxxer community.

Anti-vaxxers believe that people who have gotten vaccinated against the novel coronavirus can somehow shed the protein spike that can cause numerous health complications, including menstrual cycle irregularities, miscarriages and sterility in women by just being close to one another.

Does it shed stuff from one person to another?

Absolutely not. This crazy rumour/ conspiracy theory has been busted by Centre for Disease Control, PublicHealth.Org, as well as experts like Dr Zubin Damania, a trained internist from UCSF/Stanford and founder of Turntable Health.

Damania, in a video he recently posted, explains that the misinformation comes from an earlier claim that syncytin, a protein involved in the placental formation, possesses structural similarities to the spike protein, and thus a vaccination could affect a women's reproductive systems. But a fact check by Reuters has proven that vaccines don't target the protein.

Associated Press has also fact-checked the false claims that state that an immunised individual could shed an unvaccinated woman and cause reproductive issues.

Anti-vaxxers going pro mask?

Another report by Vice highlighted that this fear among anti-vaxxers is hilariously turning the anti-mask and anti-vaxxers to actually start wearing masks to safeguard themselves from the immunised individuals.

It also highlighted one paediatrician by the name of Larry Palevsky (reported by Insider) who on a live stream said that the vaccinated individuals ¡°should have a badge on their arms that say ¡®I've been vaccinated even though it's not a vaccine so that we know to avoid them on the street, to not go near them anywhere in society.¡±

Anti-vaxxers online have also shown their concern surrounding the whole shedding rumour that¡¯s being spread.

I agree! Some people unfortunately took the bait, and need help to detox body. Vaccine shedding is real too. That¡¯s why I will protect my body with herbs, and preventive/ protective remedies

Shedding is possible because all this vaccine does is make you asymptotic¡­ you don¡¯t know you have it if you do! This vaccine is also not FDA Approved, it¡¯s Approved for Emergency Use and there is a big difference. You¡¯re spreading LIES!

Immunised people are having fun

Seeing anti-vaxxers freak out and wear masks as well as social distance -- something that they refrained from doing during the peak of the pandemic is rather funny and ironic. And immunised individuals are using this moment to their advantage.
