Anupamaa: Massive fire destroys set of Rupali Ganguly¡¯s popular show just hours before shoot; AICWA demands high-level probe
A massive fire destroyed the set of the TV show Anupamaa in Mumbai just before filming. AICWA condemned the negligence, demanding a high-level probe, FIRs, and stricter fire safety, suspecting possible insurance fraud and highlighting recurring safety lapses in the industry.

A massive fire erupted early Monday morning on the set of the popular TV show Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly, at Mumbai Film City. The blaze began around 5:00 AM in the morning and completely gutted the set. The incident occurred just two hours before filming was scheduled to start.
According to Times Now, when the incident happened, there were several workers and crew members present at the location, engaged in preparations for the day's filming. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported.
However, the timing of the incident has raised alarms, as if the fire had broken out during the active shooting hours, the consequences could have been far more tragic.

AICWA has urged that a criminal FIR
The President of the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, issued a strong statement calling upon the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, to order a high-level judicial probe into the matter.
Along with this, he also demanded an immediate suspension of the Managing Director of Film City and the Labour Commissioner of Mumbai. On the other hand, AICWA has urged that a criminal FIR should be registered against the producers, the production house, the TV channel, and also the film city MD and the labour commissioner.

Why did AICWA urge a high-level probe into the Anupamaa fire on set?
As per the report, the organisation wants the investigation to look into the possibility that the fire was deliberately set by the producers or the channel to falsely claim insurance money.
Over the years, multiple film and TV sets have been destroyed by fires, which are often attributed to suspected shortcomings in fire safety measures. Hence, these incidents have raised serious concerns about the preparedness and accountability of production teams.
Both critics and industry workers have consistently highlighted the film industry's neglect of fundamental safety standards, which endangers the lives of numerous crew members daily.
