The backlash against Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, continues to grow despite his apology. He has been facing criticism over a joke that was widely perceived as vulgar. On Monday, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party and other opposition parties condemned his remarks. Following this, the Assam Chief Minister announced that the Assam Police has registered an FIR against all those involved in the show. However, social media influencer Uorfi Javed has come to their defense, arguing that while the remarks may have been inappropriate, they do not warrant an arrest.
Uorfi Javed, who has previously appeared on India's Got Latent and walked out during an episode after a contestant used abusive language, calling her a "b***h" and also inquiring about her sexual history, took to her Instagram story on Monday to share her perspective on the current controversy.
She wrote, " You don't like certain people, you don't like the things that they do or say but demanding for them to go to jail for that? Are you serious? Ummmm! I don't know."
"Samay is a friend, I have his back but even rest of the people on the panel, what they said was distasteful yes but I don't think they deserve to go to jail for that," the fashionista added.
What exactly did Ranveer Allahbadia say?
In a recent episode of Samay Raina's India's Got Latent, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia put a contestant in an uncomfortable position by asking inappropriate questions about her parents.
He posed a controversial dilemma, asking whether she would rather watch them have s*x every day or join in once to end it.
Following the backlash, Ranveer apologised, calling his remarks a "lapse in judgment." He admitted that comedy is not his strength and requested forgiveness.
I shouldn't have said what I said on India's got latent. I'm sorry. pic.twitter.com/BaLEx5J0kd
