ARMYs ask what is Jin's fault? BLINKs and other K-pop fans target BTS singer's birthday posts amid Martial?Law?issue
On December 4, BTS' Jin celebrated his 32nd birthday while South Korea faced a surprise martial law declaration by President Yoon. The law lasted only hours before being overturned, amid K-pop fan drama mocking Jin.
It seems that December 4 will be remembered for many reasons when it comes to South Korea. While BTS fans, known as ARMY, were already celebrating the birthday of the eldest member, Kim Seokjin, the mood quickly shifted when President Yoon Suk Yeol imposed martial law in the country. The law lasted only a few hours before being called off after MPs voted against it. President Yoon's surprise imposition of martial law was overturned after 190 MPs in parliament voted against it. Less than two hours after its implementation, MPs convened at the National Assembly to block the president's decision.
K-pop fans target Jin's birthday post:
While all this was happening late into the night in South Korea, various music apps and social media pages were simultaneously wishing Jin a happy birthday. ARMYs from around the world posted their wishes and prayed for the safety of the people in South Korea. However, it seemed that the haters had found another opportunity to mock BTS members.
Just yesterday, K-pop fans from other groups, especially BLACKPINK's fans called BLINKs, were seen sending vile threats after Kim Taehyung aka V announced the passing of his dog. Now, BLINKs were joined by fans of NewJeans, called "Tokkis" or "Bunnies," and aespa fans known as "MYs," all contributing to the hate train aimed at Jin's birthday post.
What was shocking was that these K-pop fans were using the ongoing martial law issue to post hateful comments against the BTS singer on X (formerly known as Twitter). ARMY quickly came to Jin's defense and asked, "What is Jin's fault?" as he had not made any birthday post himself.

Hours after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared "emergency martial law" in South Korea, military troops attempted to enter Parliament, according to Reuters. Yoon made the announcement in a surprise televised address, accusing the opposition of "sympathizing with North Korea" and "paralyzing the government with anti-state activities." Live TV footage showed troops, reportedly assigned to enforce the martial law, trying to enter the National Assembly. Opposition leaders, along with parliamentary aides, were seen attempting to block the soldiers' entry by spraying fire extinguishers at them. In fact, K-pop artists from major companies were even asked to cancel upcoming events.
