BTS reunion: On June 14, 2022, during their 9th Festa celebration, South Korean boyband BTS, comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, announced a hiatus. The news quickly sparked panic among fans, with some K-media outlets confusing it as a disbandment. Leader RM stepped in soon after, reassuring ARMY, their fandom, that this was just a break, not the end, and promised they'd return stronger than ever.
Still, not everyone was convinced. Many pointed to their upcoming military service, saying the group wouldn¡¯t be whole again for years. Some even predicted that the members might drift apart or that the fandom might move on; after all, K-pop evolves fast. But here we are, nearly three years later, and ARMY has stayed right where they¡¯ve always been: loyal and hopeful. BTS will officially reunite on June 21, with Suga becoming the final member to complete his mandatory military service. For those unfamiliar, the Agust D rapper has been serving as a public service worker rather than on active duty due to a past shoulder injury that rendered him unfit for combat.
Among the members currently enlisted, RM and V will be the first to be discharged, both on June 10. However, their discharges will take place separately, as V has been serving in the Special Duty Team (SDT) of the Capital Defense Command, specifically assigned to the Ssangyong Unit of the 2nd Army Corps. Meanwhile, RM is stationed at the 15th Infantry Division, a frontline unit based in Gangan Province.
Just a day later, on June 11, Jimin and Jungkook will complete their service as well. The duo enlisted together and have been serving in the 5th Infantry Division under the "Companion Soldiers" program ¡ª a system that allows close friends or relatives to serve alongside each other, providing emotional support during their time in the military.
Jin and J-Hope have already wrapped up their service, with Jin being discharged on June 12, 2024, and J-Hope following on October 17, 2024. J-Hope was the second member to complete his 18-month term, right after Jin.
