An 80-year-old woman K Kamalathal sells idlis with delicious sambar and chutney for just Re 1. Chairman of the Mahindra Group AnandMahindra recently took to Twitter and shared her story. People started flooding the post while praising him for his kind gesture.
Almost a month back, we came across a story that left us teary-eyed. An 80-year-old woman, K Kamalathal opens her doors to customers every morning and sells fluffy, yummy idlis with delicious sambar and chutney for just Re 1.
She reportedly started selling idlis 30 years ago in Vadivelampalayam. She sells around 1,000 idlis every day and till 10 years ago she was selling the idlis for 50 paise, and now over the years she has increased the price from 50 paise to Re 1.
Now, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra recently took to Twitter and shared her story.
He tweeted the video of K Kamalathal, with the caption, ¡®One of those humbling stories that make you wonder if everything you do is even a fraction as impactful as the work of people like Kamalathal. I notice she still uses a wood-burning stove. If anyone knows her I'd be happy to 'invest' in her business & buy her an LPG fueled stove.¡¯

Everyday she wakes up before sunrise and starts cooking the idlis. She does most of her work manually and it takes her four hours to grind all the ingredients for the idli batter which she makes in the evening and uses the next morning after it has been fermented. She makes sure that she serves fresh idlis every morning.
After Mahindra tweeted her video, people started flooding the post while praising him.

But octogenarians like her prefer to use wood that stove. And this traditional way adds more taste to the food she prepares. It will be good, if u can get her a better accommodation and bear part of her cooking expenses, cost of ingredients

Respected Sir..

Wood is available free of cost in remote areas/villages..
If you provide AMMA ji, LPG Stove and Cylinder, She will have to get it refill on commercial rates, I don't think that will help you her economically even it will raise extra burden.
