Bride Shuts Down Haters With Grace After Going Viral For Making Her Own Wedding Cake
Lilly Mendoza stacked her wedding cake on the ceremony day while wearing a "full face, and hair did, and white robe," which sparked outrage.
Stories can swiftly go viral in the age of social media for both positive and negative reasons. One such incident concerned a bride who chose to DIY her wedding cake. What began as an act of creativity and individuality rapidly became a source of contention, with people voicing their concerns online. However, this nonchalant bride answered the critics with a booming message of self-assurance and happiness.
The bride made her own wedding cake because she enjoyed baking and wanted to add a personal touch to her big day. She had no idea how many harsh comments she would receive when images of the cake were circulated on social media. Some questioned her abilities, while others questioned her decision to emphasise baking over hiring a professional.
A Bride Who Went Viral After Making Her Own Wedding Cake Defends Her Actions: 'I'm Not Sweating'
On May 15, wedding photographer Daniella Complete Photographer shared a video on Instagram of a recent bridal customer, Lilly Mendoza, putting the finishing touches on her five-tiered wedding cake, which she prepared from scratch.
"POV: You're a pastry chef, so you make your wedding cake!" Mendoza recently graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with a bachelor's degree in Applied Food Studies, writes in the video's caption.
The cake had four iced layers and one centre acrylic cake separator holding white flowers and greenery. It was finished with a swirling cascade of blue and white flowers, completing the centrepiece treat.
Although Mendoza's bridal multitasking feat received millions of likes and hundreds of congratulatory comments on social media, the unfavourable remarks caught the bride's attention while she was on her honeymoon.
She claims she saw something¡ªa few things that was less than sweet after viewing all of the views for her baked creation, which she describes as a vanilla sponge cake coated with simple caramel syrup and covered in caramel-flavoured icing.
"When I saw all the views and likes, I told my husband, 'Babe, look at this!'" "And then I started reading the comments," Mendoza reflects on the other shoe dropping. "I probably spent an hour in our room reading these comments." Many comments criticise the icing, the colours, and even the bride's intentions. She said this to TODAY.com.
Mendoza says that reading the remarks threatened to ruin her honeymoon. That is, until her husband, active duty serviceman Dennis Mendoza, suggested she turn off the phone so they could appreciate their surroundings.
