Heartbreaking Picture Shows Grieving Dog Guarding Sibling¡¯s Dead Body In Texas

Dogs express emotions just like humans do and at times they are way more empathetic than humans themselves.

In one such heartbreaking instance, a grieving dog refused to leave its sibling's dead body when animal rescuers in the area chanced upon it.

According to reports, the animal control officers in Kingsville received a call Friday morning about a deceased dog near a rural highway in Texas.

When they arrived on the scene, responders encountered what they described as a ¡°heart-wrenching sight."

¡°This boy wasn¡¯t going to let anyone mess with his sister. Our [animal control officers] had a hard time convincing him everything was going to be alright, and they were there to help him,¡± the animal center said on Facebook.

"This call was one of the most heart wrenching for our staff, but we thought we'd share some behind the scene images of situations they are faced with on a regular basis. Staff has decided to name the survivor "Guardian", read the Facebook post.

Guardian, believed to be around six to 12 months old, was taken to the Kingsville Kleberg animal centre to get some rest, according to People.

¡°He's still a little confused about what happened, but at least he¡¯s now in a safe place with freshwater and belly full of food,¡± the facility said.

A staffer the facility wrote that Guardian is being held on stray hold for the required four days. For the dog, estimated to be between six months and a year old, an adoption has already been scheduled on May 29.
