Normally the Speaker¡¯s chair is only used by Presiding Officers but today a VIP took the chair with me. Congratulations @tamaticoffey and Tim on the newest member of your family. pic.twitter.com/47ViKHsKkA

On Wednesday, Mallard tweeted a picture of himself feeding a happy-looking Tš±tš¡nekai. "Normally the Speaker's chair is only used by Presiding Officers but today a VIP took the chair with me. Congratulations @tamaticoffey and Tim on the newest member of your family," Mallard tweeted.
Who needs to see this today? Every single last one of us, that¡¯s who. Here¡¯s a brand new papa holding his new born in our House of Representatives right now ??? pic.twitter.com/NU00SHfKFT

Reports state that since he took over the house, Mallard has made some significant changes to make Parliament a more family-friendly space. The changes have proved to be a boon for all the women MPs in New Zealand who also have the freedom to breastfeed on the floor of the house.
In 2017, it was an iconic moment when Australian Senator Larissa Waters breastfed her infant inside Australian Parliament. ¡°From a mum¡¯s perspective, breastfeeding is very normal and uneventful,¡± she was quoted by Stuff.co as saying.
So proud that my daughter Alia is the first baby to be breastfed in the federal Parliament! We need more #women & parents in Parli #auspol pic.twitter.com/w34nxWxG0y
