A lot of people have to let go of their dreams because they don't have the privilege to fulfil them. But this man with his hard work made sure that he gets what he desires and in the end achieved it.

We are talking about IAS officer K Jayaganesh, who became proficient in different professions to reach his goal. During his inspiring journey, K Jayaganesh faced many difficulties, but he showed courage and achieved his aim.

Born and brought up in a small village called Vinavamangalam in the Vellore district, K Jayaganesh had a poor background financially.

His father worked in a factory and somehow managed to support the family. Jayaganesh always used to think about the pathetic condition of the people of his village. The people of his village were poor and he wanted to help the people of his village.

Coming from a poverty-stricken family he studied in his village school till 8th standard and after completing tenth, Jayaganesh enrolled in a polytechnic college as he was told that he would have a job as soon as he passed. There he passed the examination with 91 per cent marks and then studied mechanical engineering at Tanthi Periyar Institute of Technology. After completing of studies, he also got a job in a company, where he used to get a salary of Rs 2,500 a month.

After that, he realised that it was not easy to run his family on this salary. On the other hand, he was also dreaming of becoming an IAS, so he quit that job and started preparing for UPSC.

K Jayaganesh had chosen the civil service examination but it was not so easy to complete this journey. Jayaganesh failed in the civil service examination six times but never lost heart. Family pressure and financial problems had also arisen for Jayaganesh and his family. But Jayaganesh still didn't give up and worked at odd jobs. He had failed the UPSC examination but in the meantime, he was selected for the Intelligence Bureau exam.

Constant hard work led to his success

It was very difficult for him to decide whether to stop his struggle and choose the job or take the UPSC examination for the seventh time. Eventually, he chose UPSC and K Jayaganesh's hard work paid off as he achieved 156th rank in this examination. Faith in himself and constant hard work led to his success.

According to Rediff Jayaganesh says, "I worked really hard without losing faith in myself to realise my dream. My real work starts now. I want to try hard to eradicate poverty and spread the message of education to all people. Education is the best tool to eradicate poverty. I want Tamil Nadu also to be a literate state like Kerala."

In 2008, Jayaganesh finally conquered his longtime dream. ¡°Finally, when the results came, I couldn¡¯t believe myself. I had secured the 156th rank out of more than 700 selected candidates. It¡¯s a top rank, and I am sure to get into the IAS. I felt like I had won a war that had been going on for many years. I felt free and relieved,¡± he stated in an interview.

His happiness knew no bounds and he was met with real joy back home. Everyone from his village received him with much love and fanfare.

Jayaganesh¡¯s story is not just a story of grit, self-belief and determination, but also the one that highlights overcoming failures until you succeed. Kudos to his spirit!
