An advocate and Twitter user shares screenshots of her conversation with hr father where she schools him about having freedom to do anything regardless of marriage.
We can all agree that no matter how modern our families may be, there are some unsaid "rules" that showcase how patriarchy is still prevalent.
From household chores to taking care of the kids, it is still an unsaid ritual that it is supposed to be a woman's job among Indian families. Even when it comes to freedom, a woman is still supposed to change her surname after marriage no matter how successful she is.
So, an advocate and a Twitter user had a chat about this kind of double standard with her father and shared the screenshots of the conversation with everyone. She asked her father why a woman is free to do whatever she likes only after marriage?

After that, her father responded by saying that he too got his freedom only after marriage. After which she said that one doesn¡¯t have the right to snatch others¡¯ freedom. She further called it ¡°non-debatable¡± as liberty is a birthright that exists regardless of a person¡¯s marital status.
Her father then agreed.

They are maybe acting out of society pressure. And you know too how it is in the society. You know 'log kya kahenge or sochenge' is always in their minds.
