This Loyal Dog Waited For 3 Months At A Hospital, After Its Owner Passed Away Due To COVID-19
Xiao Bao's owner was admitted to the Wuhan Taikang Hospital in central China's Hubei Province and lost his life battling the novel coronavirus after five days. His faithful friend, unaware of his owner's passing waited in the hospital's lobby for three months, hoping to see him again.
There is no doubt about the fact that dogs are a man's best friend. If you do have any doubts, you haven't experienced the best friendship of your life yet, because there is nothing better than having your four-legged furry buddy by your side.
However, dogs don't understand pain and loss like we do and sometimes it becomes difficult to make them understand how death works. Remember the story of Hachik¨, an Akita dog who waited for his beloved owner for over nine years after his death? Hachik¨ is now known as a symbol of remarkable loyalty and is called ch¨±ken Hachik¨ which means 'faithful dog Hachik¨'.
A modern day example of a similar incident is the story of a dog named Xiao Bao, who waited at a hospital for three months after his owner unfortunately passed away due to COVID-19.
The seven-year-old dog whose name means Little Treasure in Mandarin was noticed by pandemics in February, reported Lad Bible.
Xiao Bao's owner was admitted to the Wuhan Taikang Hospital in central China's Hubei Province and lost his life battling the novel coronavirus after five days. His faithful friend, unaware of his owner's passing waited in the hospital's lobby for three months, hoping to see him again.
A shopkeeper named Wu Cuifen said, "They told me Xiao Bao's owner, a pensioner, was admitted with the coronavirus. Then he passed away, but Xiao Bao didn't know and just stayed in the hospital looking for him."
"It never left the hospital. It was incredibly touching, and so loyal. I grew familiar with the dog and later brought him into the shop," he added.
"Every morning when I opened up, Xiao Bao would be there waiting for me. He saw me off at the end of each day."
However, the hospital started receiving multiple complaints about Xiao Bao's presence in the hospital lobby. They contacted the Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association and Xiao Bao was taken into their dog shelter.
Things look bright for the dog's future as Xiao Bao has now been vaccinated and sterilized and the shelter is actively looking for a forever home for him. We hope that the kind and faithful dog finds a loving family soon.
