Odisha Guest Lecturer Works As A Coolie By Night, Teaches Underprivileged Children During The Day
Nagesh Patro is a guest professor at a private college in the city and volunteers his time to teach underprivileged kids for free.
India is a land of many inspiring stories. There are hustlers, good samaritans, and people who never stop chasing their dreams. Countless people contribute to making the world a better place; one such person hails from Behrampur in Odisha.
Ch Nagesh Patro's story of compassion and hard work has won hearts.
Patro spends the first part of his day teaching as a guest professor at a private university and the second part teaching for free at a coaching center he founded for low-income students. In his spare time at night, he works as a porter at the Berhampur train station.
As a guest lecturer in a private institution, he supports his father and mother in Manohar village, Ganjam, with Rs 8,000. Patro's father, who grazed goats and sheep, struggled to make ends meet.
Therefore, schooling was out of reach for him in 2006.
Since then, Patro has been educating as many kids as possible. He doesn't want marginalized kids to drop out due to family finances. Patro is a railway station porter since 2011. He took the 2012 class 12 correspondence exam. He did his graduation and postgraduation from Berhampur University after passing the HSC.
Working as a night porter, he self-funded his further studies.
Unfortunately, in 2020, the pandemic pushed his hopes and goals into disarray since his primary source of income was cut off.
In 2020, he said getting a job in the railways is one of his goals in life.
To work for the Railways as a Group C employee was Nagesh's lifelong goal.
Today, Nagesh Patro is a guest professor at a private college in the city and volunteers his time to teach underprivileged kids for free.
Kids from classes 8 through 12 from low-income families attend his tutoring center at no charge.
"Been working here for around 12 yrs. During night I work as a porter & during day I teach. In this manner, I too get to study. My studies were discontinued in 2006&resumed in 2012. Completed MA while working as porter. I also teach as guest lecturer at a pvt college," says Patro pic.twitter.com/Ceqh7HDmQ1

Shared on Twitter by news agency ANI, pictures show Patro working daily as a porter at the railway station. However, he fulfills his role as a teacher for underprivileged kids at night.
And that's not all. The 31-year-old also serves as a part-time lecturer at a private college.
