Quirky Ad For 'Chonky' Cat Goes Viral
It was not just the 40.3-pound (around 18-kg) cat that caught the attention of people on Facebook but also the ad the animal care centre put up that hilariously described the cat.
The advertisement caught the attention of cat lovers from California to Maine, as people enjoyed the witty comments on the card. The ad read, ¡°Did you wake up today and say, ¡®Let¡¯s adopt the largest cat anyone has ever seen?¡¯ If so, we have the cat for you.¡±
It continued, ¡°Meet Patches; all 40.3 POUNDS of him! He¡¯s been regulated to a very special diet, is on an exercise plan and is very sweet. He¡¯s neutered, tested, chipped and ready to go today. Please email with your home info and your commitment to help Patches get to a safe and healthy weight. Until then, we will marvel at his gloriously gluttonous body.¡±
The Cat Ultimately Went To A Retiree In Virginia
The post on Facebook garnered 2,000 likes and 1,200 comments, not just from fascinated internet lurkers but from actual cat parents that wanted to adopt Patches. While the line to give the cat a new home was long and impatient, the cat finally went to a retiree in Virginia, Kay Ford.
Ford told The Post that on Wednesday morning, her daughter contacted her to tell her about the fat cat going viral on the internet after RACC posted the hilarious ad. She told the outlet, "She sent me a text this morning, while I was watching the finale of ¡®The Mandalorian.' I opened it up and I saw the picture of Patches, and I just knew immediately I needed to go and get him."
Ford knew she was up against stiff competition as other cat lovers would also have their eyes on the "chonky" cat. She said, "I knew that there were going to be nine billion people who were falling in love with him at the same time." To her luck, Ford had a short ride to the shelter, which made her a front-runner to adopt the cat.
