Watch: 7-YO Ukrainian Girl Gets Sweet Surprise As Volunteers At Romanian Camp Celebrate Her Birthday
A video is going viral on social media where a seven-year-old Ukrainian girl was thrown a birthday party at a refugee camp in Romania.
Russian invasion has forced thousands of Ukrainians to flee from their own country. Neighbouring countries have tried to welcome all these refugees with open arms by providing basic necessities such as food and shelter.
However, staying in refugee camps as opposed to your own home is not the same. Many videos and pictures show how saddening it is to leave one's own homeland.
However, amid the sadness and chaos, a video is going viral on social media where a seven-year-old Ukrainian girl was thrown a birthday party at a refugee camp in Romania.
The young girl named Arina fled from Ukraine after the Russian invasion. She was with her family in a makeshift tent in Romania for the refugees when the volunteers greeted her with gifts and balloons and sang her the birthday song. Arina was beaming as everyone tried to make her day special.
The video was shared by the Instagram page Goodnews Movement. ¡°Humanity... a refugee camp in Romania comes together for a Ukrainian girl on her 7th birthday... let's wish Arina a happy birthday below. Thank you to the helpers (sic),¡± the video caption reads.
People on the internet loved this sweet gesture amid such hopeless times and lauded the volunteers for bringing a smile to the little girl's face.
Arina's family is one of the many refugees at the Siret border camp, where Romania meets Ukraine's southwest border - about 20 miles from the city of Chernivtsi.
According to UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, more than 1.5 million refugees from Ukraine have crossed into neighbouring countries in 10 days.
