Iconic Sandals Worn By Steve Jobs Sold For Over Rs 1.7 Crore At LA Auction
The shoes' comfort and straightforward yet fantastic design were the only things that kept him so attached to them.
The sandals Steve Jobs wore as he paced the floors of the California home where he co-founded Apple has reportedly sold for close to $220,000, according to an auction house.
According to Julien's Auctions, the "well-used" brown suede Birkenstocks from the middle of the 1970s fetched the highest amount ever paid for a pair of sandals.
The auction company stated in the item on its website that the cork and jute footbed "retains the impression of Steve Jobs' feet, which had been formed after years of use."

The sandals were supposed to sell for $60,000, according to Julien's, but the ultimate sale price with an accompanying NFT was $218,750. The buyer's name was not disclosed.
An ex-house manager retrieved the sandals out of the trash. The administration of the auction house first estimated that it would sell for a maximum of $80,000. The footwear nevertheless managed to defy naysayers.
Over the years, the sandals had been included in several exhibitions, including one with the Birkenstock firm that Chrisann Brennan, Jobs' ex-partner, and the mother of his first child, Lisa, attended.
Brennan stated the sandals were a valued asset for the businessman and a part of his "uniform" in an interview dated 2018. She added that the business mogul had no desire to brag or distinguish himself from his peers.
The shoes' comfort and straightforward yet fantastic design were the only things that kept him so attached to them.
"He would never have done or bought anything just to stand out from others," she told the magazine. "He was simply convinced of the intelligence and practicality of the design and the comfort of wearing it."
In Los Altos, California, in the home of Steve Jobs' parents, Steve Wozniak and Jobs co-founded Apple in 1976. The Los Altos Historical Commission declared the property a historic site in 2013.
Jobs passed away in 2011 as a result of pancreatic cancer complications.
