¡®Won¡¯t Marry Until My Village Gets Road,¡¯ Karnataka Woman Writes To CM Basavaraja Bommai
The woman reached out to the chief minister via mail and said that her village does not have basic facilities like roads and bus services and that she won't marry until these basic facilities are provided to her village.
Quite often we read news of villages, towns lacking basic infrastructure making the lives of residents of the area harder. However, one woman from H Rampura village in Karnataka had enough and took the matter to the state Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai directly.
The 26-year-old Bindu R D reached out to the chief minister via mail and said that her village does not have basic facilities like roads and bus services and that she won't marry until these basic facilities are provided to her village.
Reacting promptly to her request, administration officials of the Davangere district visited H Rampura village on Thursday and promised immediate action on the woman's request, news18 reported.
The woman in her letter said that she was the only woman from her village to do a Masters course and if she would not raise her voice for her village then who will.
She informed that her village only has a primary school till class 5th and if anyone wants to do higher education then they have to go to another school 14 km away. She said many girls in her village had to drop out because of this. She herself had to stay in a hostel to complete her education.
Even when Davangere Deputy Commissioner visited H Rampura village of 300 people, he had to walk over 2 km to reach the village.
Apparently, after the assessment, the district administration has issued an order to local officials to start the road construction work on Friday.
Sadly, the situation of her village is not unique. There are various interior parts of the country that are still not well connected to the city centres and other administrative blocks. Residents face a lot of difficulties even for basic facilities like school, hospital and market.
But like her, there are many others who come up with solutions to overcome the infrastructure difficulties in their area. For e.g, the youths of a village in Jharkhand constructed a 5km road in their village after their several requests to state administration went unheard.
The good part, such resolute people didn't give in and improved the conditions of the villages and towns. That's the spirit we all need.
