Is 'Love Hangover' by BLACKPINK Jennie a copy of BTS Jungkook's 'Seven'? ARMY share pictures
The album Ruby by BLACKPINK Jennie will feature 15 tracks having collaborations with Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, FKJ, and Kali Uchis. It album is slated for release on March 7, 2025.
BLACKPINK's rapper, Jennie, has released a new single, "Love Hangover," featuring Dominic Fike. The track delves into the complexity of being drawn to someone who is both toxic and intoxicating, and is set to be feature on her upcoming LP, Ruby, slated for release on March 7. Along with the single, Jennie also unveiled a music video, directed by Bradley & Pablo and shot in Mexico City.
The video stars Charles Melton as Jennie's boyfriend, and follows their disastrous series of dates. "We say it's over, but I keep f**king with you," Jennie sings. "And every time I do, I wake up with this love hangover."
Is it a copy of BTS Jungkook's 'Seven'?
The global hit "Seven" was part of Jeon Jungkook's solo album GOLDEN. Interestingly, the same directors¡ªBradley Bell and Pablo Jones-Soler¡ªwho worked on Jungkook's MV also directed Jennie's music video.
In fact, many scenes from both MVs are strikingly similar, such as the coffin, the conversation in the restaurant, and even walking in the rain. The BTS fandom, ARMY, shared numerous pictures on X (formerly Twitter) to highlight these parallels.
ARMY reacts
On X, many pointed out that BLINKs, BLACKPINK's fandom, have previously called out other artists for copying, even for something as minor as hair colour, and are now silent when their own favourite seems to have copied a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 song.
One ARMY member wrote, "They really said copy & paste. The entire concept was an 'inspo' from 'Seven.' Wondering what reaction the GG fandom would've had if it was the other way around and Jungkook had taken this 'inspo'."
