Journalist confronts Nita Ambani on Anant Ambani's wedding: 'Why such lavish displays of wealth in an unequal India?
In a recent interview, Nita Ambani addressed criticism of her son Anant Ambani's extravagant wedding, emphasising that every parent wants the best for their child.

Mukesh and Nita Ambani's youngest son, Anant Ambani, tied the knot with Radhika Merchant in July last year, and their wedding was nothing short of a spectacle. With one extravagant event after another, it was a display of opulence like no other. But then again, Mukesh Ambani is India's richest man, and as some pointed out, even their over-the-top spending likely amounted to less than 1% of their total wealth.
Now, in a recent interview with Bloomberg Television, Nita Ambani was asked a hard-hitting question about the grand affair¡ªone that many had been waiting to hear the answer to.
'Ostentatious wedding'
The founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation took part in an interview with Haslinda Amin on Bloomberg Television.
At the start of the video, the narrator posed a question: "In a country still deeply divided by inequality, how does she [Nita Ambani] respond to critics of the Ambani family's extravagant displays of wealth?"

Amin asked Ambani directly, "Some critics have commented on the lavishness of the wedding, calling it ostentatious. Do such remarks affect you?"
Ambani, who is also the founder of the Dhirubhai Ambani International School responded, "Every parent wishes to give their best for their child's wedding, and that's exactly what we did. I believe this celebration showcased a 'Made in India' brand."
She further expressed, "I am glad I could bring Indian traditions, heritage, and culture to the forefront."
When asked about a moment from her youngest son's wedding that touched her heart, the Reliance Industries director shared, "Anant has struggled with obesity since childhood due to his asthma. But on that stage, he stood as a confident groom. He told me, 'Mom, it's not about how I look physically, it's about what's in my heart.' Seeing him hold his life partner's hand¡ªthat was the most touching moment for me."
