To Find His Lost Luggage, Bengaluru Techie Hacks IndiGo Airlines Website
Nandan Kumar, a software engineer travelling from Patna to Bangalore on an IndiGo flight misplaced his bags and the rest of the story is something you should not miss.
Every person who has ever travelled in an airplane knows the struggle of collecting their luggage from the collecting counter of the airport. It is not only tedious but also nerve-wracking until you actually get a hold of all your bags. But the worst part here is when one can't find their bag despite waiting for a long time.
This is what happened with Nandan Kumar, a software engineer who was travelling from Patna to Bangalore on an IndiGo flight. Kumar's luggage was accidentally picked up by a co-passenger who probably had a similar-looking bag. But this somehow turned into a bigger deal and Kumar had to use his developer skills to retrieve his bag.

Kumar shared his story on his Twitter account and also mentioned the flaws in the security of the IndiGo website.
He wrote, ¡°So, I travelled from PAT - BLR from Indigo 6E-185 yesterday. And my bag got exchanged with another passenger. An honest mistake from both our ends. As the bags were exactly the same with some minor differences."
I realised it only after I reached home when my wife pointed out that the bag seems to be a different from ours as we don¡¯t use key based locks in our bags.

He added that he followed all protocols, called customer service. But nothing really happened. ¡°Long story short I couldn¡¯t get any resolution on the issue. And neither your customer care team was ready to provide me with the contact details of the person, citing privacy and data protection,¡± Kumar mentioned. However, he didn¡¯t receive any call from any customer care agent even the next day.

After several failed attempts Kumar took matters into his own hands. ¡°After all the failed attempts, my dev instinct kicked in and I pressed the F12 button on my computer keyboard and opened the developer console on the @IndiGo6E website and started the whole check-in flow with network log record on,¡± he wrote.
Pressing F12 on a browser opens developer tools. It gives developers ways of looking at requests and responses sent and received to and from a website server, among other debugging options.
So now, after all the failed attempts, my dev instinct kicked in and I pressed the F12 button on my computer keyboard and opened the developer console on the @IndiGo6E website and started the whole checkin flow with network log record on.

After this process, he located the PNR number of the passenger whose luggage got exchanged with his own and proceeded to track down the customer's details.
He then shared some loopholes that IndiGo airlines have. After this, IndiGo responded with a post on Twitter claiming that they were sorry for the inconvenience caused and assured that the website had no security lapses.
