The film, directed by Jared Hess, mainly focuses on four strangers who are transported to the strange but whimsical overworld, and they are on a mission to find their way home.

The movie is yet to be released in the theatre, but before that, netizens seem to have taken over the social media to share their reactions. According to some, it is fun, but they lack audience clarity in their mindset.

While others think it is destined to be a cult classic, similar to Hess' Napoleon Dynamite 20 years ago. On the other hand, YouTuber Cris Parker thinks the movie is fun, but the characters felt underdeveloped for some reason.

However, Dexerto and TotalFilm writer Jasmine Valentine thinks a Minecraft movie is the worst movie she has ever seen in years. While, according to GameSpot, the movie could emerge as a strong contender on the 2025 box office charts, no matter the word of mouth.
