Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad: Kylian Mbappe scores twice as Real Madrid win 2-0 in Modric and Ancelotti¡¯s final game at home
Real Madrid ended their La Liga season with a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad, but the spotlight was on Luka Modric and Carlo Ancelotti. The Bernabeu paid tribute to the two club legends in an emotional night, as Kylian Mbappe scored twice to boost his Golden Boot hopes.

On May 24, 2025, Real Madrid played their final La Liga match of the season against Real Sociedad, but the focus was never really on the result. It was an emotional night at the Bernabeu as fans, players and coaches came together to say goodbye to two of the club¡¯s most important figures,Luka Modric and Carlo Ancelotti.
Modric, the most decorated player in the club¡¯s history with 28 trophies, is set to leave after more than a decade of service. Manager Ancelotti, who guided Real Madrid to 15 major titles across two spells, is also stepping down. Together, they helped define an era at the club. There were tears, standing ovations and a deep sense of gratitude throughout the night, especially when Modric was subbed off late in the match and the entire stadium rose in appreciation.

While the night was full of emotion, there was still business to take care of on the pitch. Kylian Mbappe, chasing the European Golden Boot, wasted no time getting involved. His first effort was denied by Unai Marrero, but he continued to push. Mbappe was eventually rewarded in the 38th minute after Pablo Marin gave away a penalty. Marrero saved the first attempt, but the French forward reacted quickly to bury the rebound, scoring his 30th league goal of the campaign.
Real Sociedad had very little to play for, though they hoped to finish inside the top half again. Their only big moment came early when Sergio Gomez went one-on-one with Lunin, but the Madrid keeper came out on top.

Mbappe kept going after the break, needing just one more to effectively knock Mohamed Salah out of the Golden Boot race. Marrero did well to stop him again, but in the 83rd minute, Vinicius Junior played him through and Mbappe calmly slotted the ball into the near post.
The match ended 2-0, but by then it felt like a celebration. Lucas Vazquez also received an ovation in what could be his last home appearance, while referee Mario Melero Lopez blew his final whistle after ten years in La Liga. A night of farewells, filled with applause, emotions and one last win at the Bernabeu.
