The Taiwanese actress died at the age of 48 after she came down with influenza-related pneumonia while traveling to Japan. Yoko Kamio's tribute holds dee sentimental value, as Barbi featured in the first iconic live-action adaptation of Boys Over Flowers titled Meteor Garden.
Taiwanese star Jerry Yan, who starred opposite Barbie in Meteor Garden, has also expressed his condolences on the passing of his former co-star. He shared his heartfelt tribute on Chinese social media platform Weibo on February 3, a day after Hsu's death was confirmed by her sister.
Boys Over Flowers author pays tribute to Barbie Hsu
On February 3, Yoko Kamio reshared a post on X, which confirmed the tragic news of Hsu's passing away. The following day, February 4, Kamio took to the social media platform to share her personal thoughts and condolences, writing in Japanese that Hsu's "lovely smile" in the series had left a lasting impression on her. The 58-year-old said, "I am truly saddened by her death. She was a very memorable person with a cute smile. I am truly saddened and disappointed. We sincerely pray for the repose of your soul."

Barbie Hsu's Meteor Garden co-star Jerry Han offers condolences
Jerry Yan, the Taiwanese star who played the iconic role of Daoming Si, Shancai's love interest in the hit drama series Meteor Garden, also paid a heartfelt tribute to his former co-star.
On February 3, Yan took to Weibo to express his condolences, reflecting on the time they spent together during the filming of the series. "I am grateful that I met you," Yan wrote. He then recalled a phrase that Hsu would often say during her younger years, "Live every day as if it were your last, and live it to the fullest."
The actor added, "I hope you will go slowly this time. From now on, in another world, there'll be no worries, and the years will be peaceful."
