Yan Hongsen is going viral on social media and has been dubbed the 'Rocket Boy' due to his passion for and efforts to create rockets. He taught himself programming, physics, and chemistry in order to build and launch a rocket.
Yan has been seen submitting messages on Douyin informing netizens about his passion for rockets and the delight he gets from building them, even at such an early age.
When did the young boy develop an interest in rockets?
According to the South China Morning Post, the young child has over four lakh followers on social media, where he documents his rocket development journey.
According to reports, he was four years old when he developed an interest in astronomy and began his love affair with rockets after visiting a launch centre.
How did the boy's parents support him?
Recognizing his fascination, his parents reportedly decorated his room with a rocket motif, converting it into a rocket workshop.
According to the SCMP, he recently wrote over 600 lines of code for the current rocket's flight control system.
However, Yan's aim is to build a genuine rocket for China eventually. Earlier this week, China tested a new engine for its Long March 10, a proposed rocket to transport men to the moon.
