Teen Addicted To Playing Games Dies By Suicide After Family Refuses To Repair His Mobile Phone

A gaming disorder is not something that just occurs in youngsters; players of any age, including children, teens, and adults, are all susceptible to developing the condition. There's no harm in your kid enjoying themselves on a video game console or online, but moderation is key.

Enjoying games is perfectly natural, but it's important to remember that they're made (sometimes with the help of behavioral scientists) to keep you engaged.

The issue arises when kids and teens give up on other activities in favor of playing video games or when playing video games is the only way they know how to unwind since, over time, a child may come to rely on video games as a means of coping with complex life issues.

Things can get worse if the addiction goes uncontrollable.

A 15-year-old Greater Noida teenager died by suicide after his family refused to repair the broken phone he used to play games on. The boy and his family reportedly lived under the Beta 2 police station.

His family frequently scolded him for his addiction to playing mobile phone games.

The boy urged his family to take him to get his broken phone fixed, but they refused. The incident angered the youngster to the point that he died by suicide, hanging from his bedroom ceiling fan.

When his family members found him, they immediately brought him down and rushed him to the nearest hospital, where he was declared dead.

Greater Noida's deputy police commissioner, Saad Miyan Khan, said the 15-year-old boy's addiction to mobile gaming. The delay of his loved ones in fixing his broken phone led directly to his suicide.

"Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway," said the DCP.

The boy's father works as a gardener, and according to the police, the family's finances are in bad shape.

A similar case was reported from Pakistan in April 2021.
