Coronavirus Has Now Killed More People In The US Than The 9/11 Terrorist Attacks
USA has become the new epicentre of coronavirus, after Italy. According to recent reports, there have been a total of 164,359 cases in the country. The total number of recorded deaths are 3,173 till now.
In the US, coronavirus has now claimed more lives than the 9/11 terrorist attack that killed 2,977 people. The number of fatalities, unfortunately, are expected to soar at least for the next two weeks.
There were over 500 deaths in the US on Monday alone, and University of Washington School of Medicine model predicts that the number of deaths might be more than 2,000 every day. from April 10 through April 21.
On Monday, number of new infections jumped at least 20,000 in one day. The United States has the most confirmed cases in the world, the number that is likely to soar as more tests take place. President Donald Trump extended the distancing guidelines for the country to the end of April.
He said from the White House, ¡°We could save more than one million American lives. Think of that: one million American lives. Our future is in our own hands, and the choices and sacrifices we make will determine the fate of this virus and the fate of our victory. We will have a great victory. We have no other choice. Every one of us has a role to play in winning this war. Every citizen, family, and business can make the difference in stopping the virus. This is our shared patriotic duty.¡±
For the virus to not claim so many lives, Americans would strictly have to follow social distancing guidelines. We sincerely hope things get better and more lives can be saved.
