Data Reportal has reported that around 62.5% of the world's population--about 4.95 billion people--use the internet, and the number is growing at an annual rate of 4.0 percent, equating to an average of more than half a million new users each day.

If we talk about social media then about 4.62 billion are using the platforms and that's equal to 58.4 percent of the world's population and 1.1 million new users are being added every day, which means 13 new users every single second.

At a time of massive deployment of 4G and 5G networks, the extent of network coverage has, moreover, multiplied by five in the space of a few years. Even if the web is expanding rapidly, there are still real inequalities in its accessibility. The price difference between internet tariffs, in the world, shows in particular flagrant imbalances, necessarily a factor of inequality.
