Does being an IIM alumni add value to a product?
In the comments, a debate erupted over why "IIM alumni" is highlighted on Country Delight's milk packaging.
One user suggested, "It's easier to pull VC [venture capital] funding when you have an IIT/IIM tag."
Another questioned, "How just being an IIM alumni makes their product better?"
Some defended the use of prestigious tags for branding purposes, stating, "Worshipping nhi hai, it's just a way of brand promotions. I know some people have a superiority complex but if someone has worked so hard academically all their life then just let them have it, what's the issue here?"
Yet another comment humorously noted, "I mean it does look like he's pretty good as milking that degree, maybe it's transferable."
The irony wasn't lost on others: "It is up to IITs and IIMs to determine how their name is used. It is all good as long as Country Delight is doing well. But one little scam, one sexual harassment allegation, one quality control lapse and you will see IIM suddenly release public statements saying 'we are not affiliated' or 'we never gave them permission to use our branding.'"
Another user added, "I feel IIT/IIM is just a bubble. With the latest news from IIT Bombay placement going as low as 4L we know what the future holds."
As per the recent placement report from IIT-Bombay, the lowest annual package has fallen to Rs 4 lakh.
Additionally, while top IITs still offer high salaries, the average has dipped to between Rs 20 and Rs 28 lakh per annum, sparking concerns about the value of these prestigious degrees.
