Eid Ul-Adha 2023 date in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia¡¯s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has announced a four-day Eid Al Adha holiday for private sector and non-profit workers in the Kingdom. Eid Al Adha holidays for the sectors will begin on June 27 and will end on Friday, 12 Dhul-Hijjah, corresponding to June 30.
Eid Ul-Adha 2023 date in UAE (Dubai)
The Ministry of UAE announced a four-day Eid holiday for the public and private sectors. In UAE Eid ul-Adha celebrartion will start on 9th Dhu Al Hijjah (Day of Arafat), corresponding Tuesday, June 27, and will end on Friday, June 30.
Eid Ul-Adha 2023 date in Qatar
According to the announcement, ministries, government agencies, and public institutions will observe the holiday starting June 27 which corresponds to Dhul-Hijjah 9 and will end on Dhul-Hijjah 15, corresponding to July 3.
Eid ul-Adha 2023: History of the Holy Festival
Bakrid (Eid-al-Adha) or Eid ul Azha coincides with the completion of the annual holy pilgrimage, Haj, and is known as the "festival of sacrifice¡± as it commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son to show his dedication and submission towards Allah.
According to the Quran and Islamic traditions, Allah tested Prophet Ibrahim's faith by commanding him twice to sacrifice his only son, Prophet Ismail, only to stay his hand when he obliged despite the devil trying to lead him astray. Allah was so pleased with Ibrahim¡¯s submission to him that He made this demonstration of sacrifice and faith a permanent part of a Muslim¡¯s life.
To commemorate the event, Muslims slaughter livestock and distribute the meat in three equal parts: one for home, one for relatives and one for the poor.
Eid-al-Adha or Eid ul- Adha dates are announced once Islamic scholars¡¯ ¡°sight¡± the moon, marking the beginning of Dhu al-Hijjah. The date of Eid-al-Adha or Eidul Azha keeps on changing every year because of the Islamic lunar calendar. Eid ul-Adha 2023: Celebration
The celebration begins after the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and lasts for three days.
Devotees dress up and wear perfumes or it as they head for congregational Eid al-Adha prayers at mosques or Eidgahs (prayers grounds) any time after sunrise to just before the Zuhr or noon prayers.
After the prayers and sermon, the devotees head home to celebrate the occasion with their families, embracing each other and chanting Eid takbir along the way, typically by taking a different route so as to meet and greet more people.
Depending on the country, the celebrations of Eid-ul-Adha can last anywhere between two and four days. The act of Qurbani (sacrifice) is carried out following the Eid Salaah (Eid Prayers), which are performed in congregation at the nearest Mosque on the morning of Eid.
