The list was released on Wednesday, and it highlighted the words that newsreaders and people on the television found the most challenging to pronounce.

The company surveys its members to compile the list; it is now in its fifth year and was commissioned by Babbel, a language-learning app company with its headquarters in Berlin and New York.
Babbel's senior linguist, Todd Ehresmnn, said that the list was dominated by the US presidential politics and the pandemic - two of the most-talked about things this year. "All of these have added some new phrases to our national vocabulary, which may take some practice," AP quoted him as saying.
Todd also broke down the proper pronunciations of some of the most mispronounced words. She said, Kamala Harris, the US Vice President-Elect's first name is pronounced as, "KAH¡¯-mah-lah" ¡ª or, as she explains in her biography, "¡®comma-la¡¯, like the punctuation mark."

Another name she mentioned was Anthony Fauci which is supposed to be pronounced as, "AN-thon-nee FOW-chee." Dr Fauci is the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Leonardo da Vinci (lee-oh-NAR-doe dah-VIN-chee) - The Italian painter who made the famous ¡®Mona Lisa¡¯ painting.
