A man shared in a Reddit post, that is now going viral, that he invested in a stock accidentally and made a fortune of Rs 60 lakhs. The man admitted in the post that he usually invests in "IPOs with a budget of around Rs 15,000," and sticks to smaller offers and stays away from "riskier SME IPOs."
But things one day, admittedly by mistake the man applied for an SME IPO for EKI Energy. He writes, "I applied for 1,200 shares at Rs 102 each, totalling a whopping Rs 1,22,400. I only realized this when I saw how much money had been blocked from my bank account. By the time I noticed, it was too late to withdraw the application."
He then got busy with life and forgot about the investment. One day out of the blue, the price of one share skyrocketed from Rs 102 to Rs 5,180. "My Rs 1,22,400 investment had ballooned to over Rs 60 lakhs! I couldn't believe it¡ªI had made a huge profit entirely by accident," the man shares.
How did people on the internet react?
People on the internet were naturally shocked. Some people congratulated the man and some warned him about how he shouldn't commit this mistake again. Here's what people wrote.
