What Made Masala Chai Top The Rank?
The culinary guide said, "Chai masala is an aromatic beverage originating from India," in the description of an Instagram post announcing the prize. It is created using milk that has been sweetened and black tea that has been spiced with a masala mix, which usually consists of ground ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and black peppercorns.
When discussing its hotly contested roots, the guide emphasised how it is connected to the British tea trade. The post clarified, "The British searched for other markets that would fulfil the high demand for black tea〞a firm European favourite〞because the Chinese had a monopoly on the tea trade in the 19th century."
The food guide stated on Instagram, "Chai masala is an aromatic beverage that comes from India. It is prepared with a blend of milk and sweetened black tea, spiced with a masala mix that usually consists of ground ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and black peppercorns. Still, there is often variation in the selection and precise ratio of spices. The British tea trade is primarily credited with the origin of chai masala, despite a number of claims to the contrary."
