Pakistan Elects Gulab Jamun As Its National Sweet, But People Aren't Too Happy About It
Gulab jamun won the poll with 47% votes while the second position was taken by Jalebi with 34% votes. Around 15000 people voted in the poll and gulabJamun was officially declared the &lsquoQaumi Mithai&rsquo.
Our neighbouring country Pakistan's sweet fate has been decided all thanks to a Twitter poll. They have now declared their national dessert to be the gulab jamun.

Gulab jamun won the poll with 47% votes while the second position was taken by Jalebi with 34% votes. Barfi secured 19% of the total number of votes.
Around 15,000 people voted in the poll and gulab jamun was officially declared the ¡®Qaumi Mithai¡¯. But not everyone was entirely satisfied with the decision.
Some claim the poll to be rigged.

Pakistanis have also been contemplating over the origins of gulab jamun. Some say it has 'foreign identity', introduced by Central Asian Turkic invaders to the subcontinent.
Others claim that it was discovered accidentally by Shah Jahan¡¯s personal chefs, while they were conducting experiments with a Persian sweet dish.
Either way, the poll left many miffed and many slammed the frivolity of the topic.
