A video going viral on social media shows a Patna High Court judge on Friday reprimanded a senior IAS officer for 'inappropriate' dressing when he was in attendance of his court session.
Judges are known to call out people if they feel they are not in alignment with the courts' rules and regulations. However, sometimes things can get a little out of hand. A video going viral shows a Patna High Court judge on Friday reprimanded a senior IAS officer for 'inappropriate' dressing when he was in attendance of his court session.
The now-viral clip shows the officer struggling to find the words to explain to the judge he was not aware of any dress code that is to be followed in courts. The judge was seen scolding the IAS officer by asking him if he had come to a movie theatre.
P.B Bajantri.. Earlier he was in Punjab and Haryana High Court, he is nice Human being and intelligent judge..There is nothing wrong telling an IAS officer to come present in court in proper dress. Otherwise courts will become like new channel tv debate

The incident happened in the court of Justice PB Bajanthri. The officer who was penalised by the judge is Anand Kishor who is the Principal Secretary for Housing and Urban Development in the Bihar government. According to reports, he is considered very close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The viral clip shows the judge reprimanding the senior IAS officer for over two minutes as he showed up for a hearing in a white shirt with his collar button open and no blazer.
The judge considered his white shirt to be 'casual' and asked the officer if he hadn't attended the civil service training institute in Mussoorie.
"Do you think this is a cinema hall?" asked the judge.
"Is the judge wrong? Or is there any old British rule specifying that coat and tie should be worn by those attending the court? If there is any such rule, remove it immediately. If there is no such rule, remove the judge immediately. We need a sane India," wrote one user.
"That don't justify judge's remark/humiliation. Actually Thats what power does to common man. Be it IAS/IPS/MP/MLA/MINSTERS/POLICE/ARMY/JUDICIARY.... It's hard to stay humble & grounded given the power & those who stays are minimal & hard to find," says another user.
"Is there any guided dress rule for govt officers to appear other then advocates? As understood, dress code is only for those who are directly engaged in the legal professional practice of court. Please clarify?" asked a third user tagging the @barandbench account.
