India witnessed a 14-hour-long ¡®Junta Curfew¡¯ yesterday and a 5:00 PM applause fest which was meant to celebrate all health workers, public sector employees and others who are making our lives better during this dark time.
However, some people of failed to follow protocol and came out on the roads for the 5 PM 'celebration', which totally nullified the concept of social-distancing, which was the whole point. Videos and pictures of people gathering in large groups to applaud, are getting slow claps from netizens all over the Internet.
Looks like people still do not understand the gravity of the situation and our Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted about the same.
In his tweet, he wrote, 'Some people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. It is my request that you keep yourself and your families safe and obey the rules set out for the lockdown. I urge the state governments to make the citizens follow the rules and laws'.

Apparently, following the simple rule of staying indoors and coming out at 5 PM in the balcony to clap for just five minutes was too difficult for some people to abide by and they took to the streets to do this instead. *Facepalm*
People have gathered in crowd and playing musical instruments. Purpose of #JuntaCurfew killed.

Like in this video where a group of people including children and the elderly - who are the most vulnerable to the virus - can be seen 'celebrating' in a crowd while banging thalis together. Did they not get the memo? Was the Prime Minister unclear about his message? Wasn't the 30-minute address by him enough?
This is a time to be super responsible not only for yourself but for others around you as well, and these people are putting each other at extremely high risk by gathering like this. It's called social distancing, not social gathering.

No points for guessing, it has left others furious because of how irresponsible these people are. The internet is flooded with disgruntled citizens who are calling out such people for being obnoxiously insensitive and daft. The worst part? This did not just happen in one place.
History will also remember that when the Prime Minister of the country called for a one-day Janata Curfew to maintain social distancing, the Governor of Karnataka was beating a plate in the crowd of hundreds on the same day at 5 pm.

When the Prime Minister himself has requested people to take precautions, why wouldn't the citizens take it seriously?
Why cant some people cant understand the seriousness and the word #jantacurfew disappointed to see people on road when #covid19 is spreading so badly..if you are in this video be ashamed of yourself.requesting police and government to come up with more strict rules @narendramodi pic.twitter.com/tlefmTfofs

There has never been a simpler message to the public and yet, people failed to follow it.
#coronavirusinindia Nation on Sunday has enthusiastically welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi¡¯s 5 minutes gratitude call at 5 pm for those working amid the spread of deadly coronavirus. But at some places overenthusiastic people came on street in crowd defied motive behind it. pic.twitter.com/iry7V0k50a

By doing this, they put their and others' lives in danger, and if the Prime Minister himself couldn't get through their thick heads, who can?
It's 5:00 PM, you can still see the crowd on the streets.

The people are not maintaining any distance and these people will do the same tomorrow. They are not worried about #coronavirus.

If you don't live under a rock (Even though right now, we really wish we did), you must have seen disapproval for these shenanigans by sensible people on social media.

Any one who arranges a big crowd today, leads it, cheers through the streets, and does that for several minutes or hours has ENDANGERED EACH ONE OF US with potential death. Remember that at 5 pm on Sunday when you stand clapping in that balcony.#CoronaVirusUpdate
Till 5 pm only. After 5 huge crowd was seen on streets. Whole purpose was killed in several cities

It is an urgent request to everyone reading this to take matters much more seriously and not make a mockery out of this grave situation. Millions of lives are at stake and that is in no way, an exaggeration.
