Remember the unexpected Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview with Oprah Winfrey where the couple exposed the Royal family for racism and discrimination among other things?
Well, the secret-spilling has led to the couple being nominated for an Emmy Award.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spilled the beans about the Royal family's inappropriate behaviour during an interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year. The interview was so widely-watched that it became one of the biggest honours in television.
Now, they have earned the nomination for the Outstanding Hosted Non-Fiction Series of Special category. Others nominated for the same award are David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, United Shades of America W. Kamau Bell, VICE and Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.
This is also the first time a member of the British Royal Family has received a nomination for the awards show.
When Markle was asked why she chose to do the expos¨¦ with Oprah, she said, "As an adult who lived a really independent life to then go into this construct that is different than I think what people imagine it to be, it's really liberating to be able to have the right and the privilege in some ways to be able to say, 'Yes, I'm ready to talk.' To say it for yourself....To be able to just make a choice on your own and just be able to speak for yourself."
The Duchess also revealed how the Royal family broke down her spirits and pushed her to have suicidal thoughts while living in Buckingham Palace. Prince Harry had also mentioned that how a member of the family was 'concerned' about the 'colour of their son's skin' before he was born.
When Oprah had pushed them to reveal a name, Meghan refused explaining that it would be very damaging for the family; Harry added, "That conversation, I am never going to share. At the time it was awkward. I was a bit shocked."
After that, Oprah explained that two people can be taken off the list of people who could have participated in that conversation. She said, "He did not share the identity with me but he wanted to make sure I knew, and if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother or grandfather that were part of those conversations."
She added, "He did not tell me who was a part of those conversations."
After the interview, there was reportedly an investigation at Buckingham Palace.
