Radio host calls Kamala Harris 'filibuster ma'am' & questions her scripted talks: Here's her response
As the US presidential election approaches, Vice President Kamala Harris faced tough questions from radio host Charlamagne Tha God about her scripted responses and border policy. In their hour-long town hall, she defended her approach as "discipline" and reiterated her stance that a second Trump presidency would threaten democracy.
As the US presidential election campaign reaches its final stretch ahead of the November 5 voting date, both candidates are ramping up their media engagements¡ªand facing intense scrutiny for their statements. Recently, Kamala Harris found herself in the spotlight when a radio host challenged her on several issues, including accusations of repetition, sticking to a script, and missteps regarding border policy.
Vice President Kamala Harris recently participated in an hour-long audio town hall with radio host and author Charlamagne Tha God, whose real name is Lenard McKelvey.
During their conversation, McKelvey asked why she often seems "very scripted" and tends to stick to her talking points.
Harris responded, "That would be called discipline. There are certain things that must be repeated to ensure that I have everyone know what I stand for and the issues that I think are at stake in this election. And so it requires repetition."
When a listener suggested Donald Trump might "put anyone that doesn't look white in camps," Harris shifted to discussing border issues.
Charlamagne then pressed, asking if the Biden administration shares some blame for the situation at the border, noting, "A lot of the blame ¡ª because, I mean, the first three years y'all did get a lot of things wrong with the border."
In response, Harris launched into a detailed explanation of her campaign talking points, stating, "the first thing we dropped was a bill to fix the broken immigration system." She referred to legislation aimed at providing a pathway to citizenship for nearly all undocumented immigrants in the US.
Throughout the discussion, Harris emphasised her recurring point on the campaign trail: a second Trump presidency would pose a serious threat to democracy.
She reiterated that Trump had claimed he would "terminate the Constitution of the United States," referencing his unfounded accusations of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election and his unsuccessful attempts to overturn Biden's victory.
