Rs 525 for corn? Virat Kohli's One8 Commune slammed as diners call dishes 'underwhelming and overpriced'
A Hyderabad student criticised Virat Kohli's One8 Commune for charging Rs 525 for a simple corn dish, sparking online debates about overpriced food at the cricketer's restaurant. While some defended the cost as part of the ambiance, many echoed similar disappointment with the dining experience.
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is not just a sports star but also the face behind the restaurant chain One 8 Commune, with outlets in Mumbai, Delhi and other cities, as well as the promoter of Nueva in New Delhi. While many diners visit his restaurants to experience the hype and his star appeal, one recent visitor shared their disappointment over an overpriced dish. Their review sparked a flurry of similar complaints from others online.
A student from the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad recently visited Virat Kohli's One8 Commune restaurant and was left unimpressed by an expensive dish.
Priced at Rs 525 (excluding taxes), the dish turned out to be just a few slices of roasted corn on the cob, served with a small dollop of dipping sauce and a sprinkle of scallions.
The student, Sneha, shared a photo of the dish online, sparking a debate about the value of dining at celebrity-owned restaurants.

While some commenters defended the high prices, attributing them to the restaurant's ambiance and vibe rather than the food alone, others echoed her disappointment.
You didn't pay for this. You paid for the vibes ?

One user criticised the overall experience, saying, "I just didn't like the place. Firstly, they have some issue with chappals (Birkenstocks). Second, every single dish we had was underwhelming. The price didn't justify the product."

Another quipped, "Looks like a 6th stump salad," referencing Kohli's recent struggles in cricket, where he has repeatedly been dismissed by deliveries around the fifth or sixth stump.
