Salt Bae's London restaurant has been in the news recently for its exorbitant prices. Now, the boss of the Nusr-Et Steakhouse in Knightsbridge has made a claim about the infamous ?1,450 golden steak.
After being mocked all over social media for the obscenely high price of its dishes since its opening in September, Mehmed, the boss said that one of its most signature dishes does not quite live up to the type, even though it is highly priced.
He said that the gold-gilded tomahawk steak 'doesn't improve the taste or change the quality'.
However, he added that the food is still 'the best in London' so diners do not really have a problem paying the hefty prices. Mehmed told MyLondon, "Some people, they want to just talk. People have complained because they have seen bills on social media for people who¡¯ve paid ?10,000 for a bottle of wine. But you can find these prices all around London. The service and the quality we are providing is extremely high. It¡¯s more interactive than most restaurants - we cook and prepare the food in front of you, like our traditional baklava, which is a very popular dessert."
After opening the joint, Salt Bae left his London restaurant to set up his 28th venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Salt Bae wrote in November, "Sunday is my last day in London. I will go to Riyadh to open my 28th restaurant. Sunday is my last day in Lovely London. I want to see you beautiful people before I go."
