Taj Chennai's heartfelt gesture for customer wins people on the internet: 'Respect the TATA culture'
Amidst the chaos, a Taj hotel received praise on social media for waiving fees for a guest, D Prasanth Nair, who cut his trip short due to the weather. Nair shared his positive experience on X, highlighting the hotel's customer-centric approach compared to another unnamed hotel brand.
Heavy rains over the last two days have caused significant flooding in portions of southern India, with Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, among the hardest hit. The unrelenting deluge has interrupted daily life, causing school and college closures, regular power outages, and major traffic jams on flooded highways.
Amid the commotion, a well-known hotel chain is receiving accolades on social media for its kind act for a client. The hotel waived fees for a guest who decided to shorten his trip to Chennai due to flooding.
What did the customer post about the Taj Hotel?
Tale of two hotels chains. One is Taj. Other is a large Indian hotel chain (let's call it H)

Context: I was staying in Taj and my colleague in H during our visit to Chennai.
Given the unpredictable weather, we decided to cut short out visit and return yday (15th evening) instead¡
D Prasanth Nair used the social media site X to share his experience staying at a Taj hotel in Chennai. He praised the Tata Group-owned hospitality industry and compared it favourably to another well-known Indian hotel brand.
Mumbai-based Nair said he and a coworker were in Chennai when the rain began. While Nair was staying at a Taj, his colleague chose another prominent Indian hotel brand, which he did not name but recognized simply as "H".
The two were meant to fly out of Chennai on October 16. However, because of the unpredictable weather, they decided to cut their journey short and return on the evening of October 15.
Nair was pleasantly surprised when he told the hotel of his choice, and they declined to charge him for the 16th, as they were completely within their rights to do, citing the circumstances behind his change of plans.
How did people on the internet react?
People in the comments section were moved by Taj's generosity and commended the hotel brand for prioritizing guests over profits. Here's what people wrote.
I left my shirt in Taj. They have cleanly ironed it and sent it to my house through a Special courier. ?
