The Parliament Will Serve Food Prepared by Five Star Chefs After Northern Railways Legacy Ends
After 52 years, things will change in the Parliament from February 1 - ITDC will serve food cooked by expert chefs of the five-star Ashok Hotel to the MPs and others during the upcoming Budget Session. However, of course, the food prices at Ashok Hotel will not be the same in the parliament. For example, the vegetarian platter will be much cheaper in the Parliament canteen - it will cost Rs 100 for 'kadai paneer, mix veg dry, bhaji, dal sultani, peas pulao, chapati, green salad, cucumber mint raita, papad and kala jamun.'
The mini thali will be priced at Rs 50. It will include, 'mix veg dry, bhaji, dal sultani, jeera pulao, chapati, green salad, cucumber mint raita and papad.'

There will also be an 'A la carte' menu of 13 items which will include snacks and seven kinds of meals with veg and mini thali options. The snacks will include upma for Rs 25, paneer pakoda for Rs 50, Samosa for Rs 10, and kachori among many other items.
After a 52-year-long run, the Northern Railways handed over the keys of the canteen to India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) on November 15, 2020.
Northern Railways had been serving food in the Parliament since 1968.
Now, the operations of the catering units in the Parliament House Estate Parliament House, Parliament House Annexe, and Parliament Library Building have been taken over by the ITDC.

The canteen serves around 5,000 people per session.
The Budget Session will commence on January 29 while the Union Budget will be presented on February 1. The session will conclude on April 8
