Tamil Nadu Collector Ditches Private Schools, Enrolls Her Daughter In Anganwadi Instead
Tamil Nadu's first woman collector Shilpa Prabhakar Satish enrolled her daughter to an Anganwadi. The centre is near the Collectorate and has a good infrastructure and play material. Teachers in the districts are provided with smartphones with an app using which they measure the height and weight of the children.
At a time when parents across the country are vying to get their kids admitted into the most sort-after private school, one District collector decided to step away from the mainstream and chose to enrol her daughter to an Anganwadi.

According to reports, Tamil Nadu¡¯s Tirunelveli district¡¯s first woman collector, Shilpa Prabhakar Satish. enrolled her daughter to Anganwadi, saying that the Anganwadis are ¡°integrated child development areas¡± that keep track of the children¡¯s health.
Shilpa said, "My daughter's Tamil has improved since she started going to the Anganwadi."
So what triggered Shilpa Prabhakar's decision? Speaking to Indian Express she said, ¡°I want my daughter to mingle with people from all sections of the society and learn how to get along with others. That¡¯s why I chose this instead of a private nursery school."

Shilpa's humble decision has left many impressed and it's also a trend that's gaining popularity, Last year, Communist Party Marxist (CPM) MLA TV Rajesh and CPM MP MB Rajesh admitted their children in government schools.
The earlier assumption of government schools being ill-equipped and low in educational standards is slowly but surely fading away.
