In the $50 million lawsuit, filed in New York federal court Wednesday, Combs accused Courtney Burgess, who reportedly testified against a grand jury for Combs' federal criminal case, of defaming him. The lawsuit comes months ahead of the rapper's May 5 trial on sex trafficking charges.

A defamation lawsuit has been filed, naming several parties as defendants, including Courtney Burgess, his attorney Ariel Mitchell, and NewsNation, the broadcaster that aired an interview with Burgess in October. The lawsuit is related to allegations made by Burgess in public appearances, where he claimed to have videos that allegedly show certain Diddy engaging in inappropriate behaviour with minors.

Speaking of the lawsuit, the now-disgraced music mogul's attorney told USA Today, "Sean 'Diddy' Combs is taking a stand against the malicious falsehoods that have been fabricated and amplified by individuals seeking to profit at his expense."

The statement further added that these defendants have willfully "fabricated" and "disseminated outrageous lies" with reckless disregard for the truth. "Their falsehoods have poisoned public perception and contaminated the jury pool," the statement continued. The lawsuit should serve as a warning against those who are trying to undermine Combs's right to a fair trial, the defendant added.

What did Courtney Burgess say about Diddy?

In November last year, Courtney Burgess alleged that he has explosive evidence against Diddy, including supposed "sex tapes" that he claimed Kim Porter, mother of Diddy's four children, handed him along with a copy of her memoir before her death.

Appearing on Michael Cox's True Crime podcast, Burgess said he possesses flash drives containing at least eight "sex tapes" that involve high-profile names associated with Diddy. Additionally, he claimed that some of these clips involve "minors" and added he has "illicit" recordings of two well-known figures in the entertainment industry, one of whom he identified as Diddy's prot¨¦g¨¦ Usher.

Who is Courtney Burgess?

According to a South China Morning Post article, Courtney Burgess hails from Newark, New Jersey, and he attended Vailsburg High School and then Clark University. For the last 30 years, he has been involved in the entertainment industry. According to his Instagram bio, he is currently serving as the CEO of Alter the Ego Records.

In an interview with NewsNation, Burgess revealed that he used to work at Big Beat Records. ¡°I think we [Burgess and Diddy] probably entered the music business at the same time. He entered with Uptown, and I entered with Big Beat. Atlantic,¡± he said.

Meanwhile, Diddy is locked up in MDC-Brooklyn since his September 16 arrest.
