The package was found with the help of X-ray technology and checks at the shipping company.

The package was sent from the southern city of Apaztingan in the state of Michoac¨¢n to an address in the state of South Carolina, in the city of Manning.
After opening the package, the officers of the Guard discovered four human skulls that had been wrapped in plastic and aluminum foil.

The Guard stated that the cargo potentially violated Mexican rules regarding the treatment of corpses, even though it was unclear how the skulls were obtained or whether the items were intended for medical research.
